Important information on obtaining a residence permit in the TRNC!

Immigration to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) attracts many foreigners with the opportunity to purchase highly liquid real estate. A residence permit (hereinafter referred to as residence permit) of Northern Cyprus is a document that allows immigrants to stay in the country for more than three months, carrying out certain activities. The rights and obligations of status applicants are specified in the Law “On Foreigners and Immigration”. In Northern Cyprus, several types of residence permits are issued, based on labor, educational, or family immigration. The validity period of the document varies from six months to two years.

1. Residence permit when purchasing real estate
In the TRNC, all foreign citizens have the right to apply for a temporary residence permit and obtain resident status when purchasing real estate, both ready-made and at the construction stage.
1.1 RESIDENCE PERMIT FOR OWNERS OF REAL ESTATE IN A COMPLETED PROJECT
1.1 When purchasing housing in a COMPLETED project, you must provide the following list of documents and fulfill the following conditions:
1.1.1 Passport.
1.1.2 Certificate of residence obtained from Mukhtar.
1.1.3 The title is registered in the name of the submitter or the Purchase and Sale Agreement is registered with the tax office. In this case, it is necessary to submit documents for obtaining permission to transfer the title and the Ministry of Internal Affairs provides a case (or Dossier) number, which must be attached to the Sale and Purchase Agreement.
1.1.4 Detailed Bank Statement. When applying for a residence permit for the first time, you must provide information on your bank account from a foreign bank. The extract must be translated into Turkish. When renewing a residence permit, you must provide a detailed statement from your LOCAL BANK! That is, you need confirmation that you live on the island and use local banks
!The account must contain an amount equivalent to $16,000. In this case, the total amount on the accounts should not fall below this amount.
IMPORTANT! THIS AMOUNT MUST BE IN THE PROVIDED ACCOUNT DURING THE ENTIRE VALIDITY OF THE RESIDENCE PERMIT.
1.2 RESIDENCE PERMIT FOR OWNERS OF REAL ESTATE IN A PROJECT UNDER CONSTRUCTION
1.2 When purchasing housing in a project UNDER CONSTRUCTION, you must provide the following list of documents and fulfill the following conditions:
1.2.1 Passport.
1.2.2 Purchase and Sale Agreement for real estate in a project under construction. The agreement must be registered with the tax office.
1.2.3 Certificate of residence obtained from Mukhtar.
1.2.4 Housing rental agreement registered in the name of the applicant, registered with the tax office.
1.2.5 Account statement from the Bank, subject to all conditions specified in clause 1.1.4

3. RESIDENCE PERMIT FOR “HIGH INCOME”, that is, RENT
On the territory of the TRNC, all foreign citizens have the right to obtain a temporary residence permit and obtain resident status in the “High Income” category. That is, the applicant needs to prove to the state that the applicant can be in the territory of the TRNC and not engage in commercial or labor activities, while the applicant must have a sufficient amount of money not to work.

In this case, you must provide the following list of documents:
2.1 Passport.
2.2 Certificate from Mukhtar.
2.3 Housing rental agreement registered in the name of the applicant, registered with the tax office.
2.4 Bank account statement. When applying for a residence permit for the first time, you must provide information on your bank account from a foreign bank. The extract must be translated into Turkish.
The account must contain an amount equivalent to $33,000. When renewing a residence permit, you must provide a detailed statement from your LOCAL BANK! That is, you need confirmation that you live on the island and use local banks, but the amount in the account, equivalent to $33,000, should not decrease during the entire period of validity of the residence permit

!IMPORTANT ADDENDUM!

After receiving a residence permit in any of the categories, family members of those who have already received a residence permit have the opportunity to also obtain a residence permit to reside in the territory of the TRNC.

1. Serving passport
2. Marriage certificate
3. Passport of someone who has already issued a residence permit
4. A copy of the residence permit of the person who has already received a residence permit
5. Certificate from Mukhtar

Children
1. The age for boys should not exceed 25 years. For girls without age restrictions.
2. Certificate of absence of marriage for children (after turning 16 years old)
3. Birth certificate
4. Parents' marriage certificate
5. Passport of the parent who has already issued a residence permit
6. Certificate from Mukhtar

Residence permit for parents after turning 65 years old
1. The parent must be 65 years of age or older
2. Passport
3. Certificate from Mukhtar
4. Birth certificate

Residence permit for partners not in official marriage

1. Passport
2. Certificate from Mukhtar
3. Certificate from each of the partners that are not in an official Marriage
4. Form EK7 (To be completed at the local Natarius)
